Car washes, Sushi and Cigarette butts and Virtual pugs!

Filed under: General, Comics, Games — Iggy&Bella @ 1:00 am

Well, yesterday we went to the dog park and had a big run on the beach and I, Iggy, chased and fetched squeaky ball over and over and over and over and over, while Bella, my bratty little sister, chased me. She always gets tangled in my legs, tries to grab me and growl and wrestle! All that matters, is squeaky ball, I just ignore her and keep on running, she just keeps on trying to jump all over me, but I’m twice as big. Later Bella stayed home and Daddy took me out for what I thought was going to be just a nice car ride, he decided to stop at this stinky place and wash the car, I like baths myself (Bella hates them) but being in the car while it gets washed is very scary. I made sure I was always as far away from the noisy water as possible. I really don’t like noises I’m not familiar with, best to be on the safe side. Today Mama and Daddy had sushi ordered in, unfortunately, the only raw fish they got is tuna, which they don’t share with us, it’s supposed to be bad for us, usually if they get salmon, we get some too. I did have a couple of small bites of rice though. Both Bella and I are very good at daintily picking food from chopsticks we dont even touch the sticks, just the food. Sometimes Mama drops the food from up high and I catch it, it’s food and a game, which is always nice. Bella doesn’t -always- catch it, but I do! Bella is crazy, she eats wasabi, which is a very spicy horseradish that makes both of us sneeze, she’ll eat everything, even pebbles. Mama has to watch her all the time. When she was a baby she ate a cigarette butt, and Mama was on the phone with the vet, and was crying and ran to the corner store the fastest we’ve ever seen her move, she came back with something called syrup of ipecac, and according to vet advice kept dosing Bella over and over until she threw up all of the cigarette butt. It was a scary day, Mama cuddled Bella all that night. But everything and everyone came out of it okay. Bella at least never went after another cigarette butt. Mama explained that she had to make Bella throw up the yucky butt because all the toxins from cigarettes get caught in their filter and one butt can kill a puppy. We’re sure glad she knew that! Neither her nor Daddy smoke, but a neighbour had flicked the butt onto our deck. Bella was too fast and beat Mama to the butt.

Pugs should not eat cigarette butts, well, no one should eat cigarette butts.

Here’s another place to play with dogs online, It’s a place called Furry Paws, and you can have a virtual pug there!

Without further ado… here’s Sheldon!

We’re having a quiet day today, how about you?

Have you heard of Molly the special needs pug in the news lately? She’s been showing up everywhere as she has been an inspiration to many, and does very important work. We really recommend her story. She does visits to schools to help educate children about accepting people with differences.

Looking for something fun to do? What about a quick pug themed jigsaw puzzle online?

And…. without further ado… here’s Sheldon!

Hairless Pug?! A Game, and PDE hope.

Filed under: General, Photos, Games, Health — Iggy&Bella @ 4:38 am

Somehow we don’t think developing a hairless pug is a very good idea… I mean, we have fur and still sometimes need a blanket or sweater to stay warm! Besides, those little wrinkles just don’t seem as cute without the puppy fuzz!

Looking for a fun game? Improve your memory with the barking memory game!

We added a link to Pug Village of Hope in our pug links, and feel this is a valuable educational site that all pug owners should have a look at if you’re not already familiar with it. It deals with PDE - Pug Dog Encephalitis, a serious disease afflicting pugs whose symptoms may include seizures, walking in circles pressing heads against people, walls or furniture, staggered walking and neck pain. Please visit their site for more information and how you can help.

Gung Hei Fat Choy!

Happy Chinese New Years! It’s the year of the pug! Okay, well technically the year of the dog, we’re generous. Today is the first day of the Chinese new year.

“So what can we expect from the upcoming year? The Dog is an ethical and idealistic sign, and the year that bears its name will also bring increased social awareness and interest in society’s less powerful members. Any tendencies to take, take, take will be replaced by a widespread sentiment of generosity and selflessness.” - Taken from Chinese Astrology - where you can find out more about your Chinese astrology for the year ahead.

Looking for something fun and silly to do? - no pugs were harmed in the development of this game, just wiener dogs!

You may also like to check out this talented Japanese photographers gallery of puppies taken with a fish eye lens. He has a number of pug shots.

Bam Bam the pug has a nice entry about Chinese New years and pug dogs today.

Looking for a little puggy love for your computer? Screen need a wash maybe? Check out this free pug screen saver - it will make your day. Bella actually has left tongue and nose prints on the lap top screen as every once in a while she decides the cursor moving around is something to be hunted and caught, she actually tries to bite it, but flat screen and flat muzzle just meet in one wet smoosh! Or there is this other less funny but more artistic free pug screensaver

Dog showing online?

It’s tempting to sign up for this Dog Show Game. Not sure why, since both Iggy and Bella are non-purebred non-registered puggy mutts, whom I love… but this looks like it could be a fun game. I used to play Neopets online which is a silly-fun place to play, and I’m wondering if the Dog show game would be too serious for me. If anyone plays and enjoys it please let me know.

“Have you ever dreamed of having your own quality dogs to raise, feed, groom, train, breed, and show? ShowDog.Com brings this opportunity to you through its one-of-a-kind virtual dog simulation game.

Join hundreds of other kennel owners as you get your own dogs and bitches ready to compete in the show ring. You choose from 163 different breeds; whether it be Great Dane, Beagle, Whippet, or Poodle, there is a breed for you. See them grow from puppy to Champion!

Choose to enter your dogs in all-breed, specialty shows, or both. Each judge has their own standards and preferences regarding a “true” champion. Do you wish to use a handler to show your dog or handle him or her yourself? It is all up to you! How well your kennel performs is up to you and the decisions you make.

You are the breeder, owner, handler, trainer, and groomer of your show dogs. You get to manage and budget the rations of food your dogs receive, how you breed your dogs, which shows you enter, and much, much more.”

Now why don’t they mention pugs by name and all those other breeds in their spiel?…. hmmm maybe we should boycott them instead ;)
