Today is Spay Day USA

Filed under: General, News, Holidays — Iggy&Bella @ 12:27 am

Even though we are Canadians and proud, we would like to bring to your attention that today, February 28th is Spay Day USA. Visit their site and see how you can get involved.

“Spay Day USA is the Doris Day Animal Foundation’s national campaign to save the lives of homeless animals through the spay or neuter of our pets and feral cats. Since Spay Day USA’s inception in 1995, event participants - people just like you - have spayed or neutered over 1,225,000 cats, dogs and other animals, saving millions of animal lives and taxpayer dollars!”

Chihuahuas infiltrating human police forces.

Filed under: General, Photos, News — Iggy&Bella @ 9:07 pm

Mini Chihuahua is the latest K-9 deputy in Geauga County.

We have some concerns about chihuahua activities… We are not sure whether they are working in liason with goals of PETAH or not, we fear that they may actually be working against PETAH agendas. This newest alliance with the human police force is a concern. We have never really trusted the german shepherds who usually conspire with police, but this may be the first of a much greater threat. Please, read this informative article and judge for yourself pug alliance members! It is clear from the photo that already this young chihuahua has subdued the shepherds. What next! More on Chihuaha activity here in Ayatollah’s Teachings - we are not sure whether the Chihuahuas are involved or not with this pugs ARF movement. In fact we find Ayatollah Mugsy to be so unbelievable wise, that we have a difficult time adjusting to his intellectual level.
We also found evidence that there may be a sophisticated martial arts training program in place by the chihuahuas, it may explain their newfound desirability for human police forces.

Regards, and be cautious, avoid cows, and perhaps to be on the safe side, chihuahuas.

Mardi gras!!!

Filed under: General, Photos, Holidays — Iggy&Bella @ 1:17 am

Tommorow being the official day for Mardi gras, Bella would like to share some Mardi gras fashions with you all today.

Iggy on the other hand believes that a day which is called ‘fat teusday’ should be reserved for eating as much as possible!

Cows. Today’s post in an eductional post on cows.

Today we decided to research the elusive animal they call the ‘cow’. Sometimes we get treats made of pressed beef and sometimes Mama and Daddy eat beef, and supposedly this beef is the meat of a cow. We had always thought beef animals must be small and insignificant due to their plentiful nature, and serving sizes. When driving in the car the other day, Mama pointed out some cows. We were rather alarmed, cows are not small like their beef serving sizes. Cows are GIANTS, cows eat cars and are bigger than houses. We caution anyone not highly experienced with cows not to approach the cows. They keep the cows behind fences in order to protect peoples cars. Here is a warning sign for cars to be on the lookout for hungry cows.

Here is a giant cow scouting for prey on a mountainside…

Here are some photos of cows that accurately show their size…

We hope you have found this educational post on cows informative. Please make sure that you approach all cows with extreme caution, and never feed them your car.

Book Recommendations from Readers.

This book was recently recommended to us by a reader of our blog who is also a librarian, so of course we’ve taken her advice and ordered a copy! Here’s the info if you’re interested too!

“Thank you for the recommendation Heather, and for being a fan of ours too! Here’s a quick link to the book you recommended on Amazon. We’re going to pick it up to read ourselves!”

This book was recommended by a pal from Dogster:
“C Says: Hi Iggy and Bella, Another great book is “Homer for the Holidays by Nancy Levine. We first saw you on Dogster. We love you!!!

Fabulous! More book leads! thanks for the heads up C!

If you have pug books you’ve found particularly enjoyable please recommend them to us, we want to know! Same with any other things, toys, etc. We’re always looking for something to make puggy life just that little bit more special.

Today they go.

Filed under: General, Comics, Photos — Iggy&Bella @ 4:28 pm

We have been told that today will be the last day the Chis will be with us. This is a relief. We have been forewarned that it means tommorow we will be getting baths and flea drops though. Seems our little guests came with even littler guests. They’ve already been treated though. Mama added a donate button to our side bar, she says that some people may donate money to us, she says we can put it in a savings so that when we are going to do a pug rescue in 2010, we will have set up money, they are saving towards that now too. We however feel if any money is donated it should go purely towards premium dog biscuits for US. Mama seems to feel that dog treats shouldn’t take up too large a portion of our diet, she gets all these weird ideas. Easier for her to say, I never see her eating kibble… NEVER! So what is the donate cookie button for? Savings for future fostering and/or cookies for us!!!! It’s in negotiation. Mama says fostering is a good hobby for her since she is home on disability and loves spending time with pugs. We won’t have a big house to be able to do fostering in for a few more years now. Actually we are going to be going ‘gypsy’ in a camper van later this spring and will be travelling all over Canada and the US for a year or two. We don’t plan on having our own settle down home again till at least 2009! It’s going to be very exciting! We will be blogging from the road, and will probably have lots of photos of our adventures. Mama is going to have surgery in the summer time way over on the other side of the country too! In a place called Toronto, where we will stay for a little bit while she recovers.

On a lighter note…. here’s Sheldon! (Oso the pug!)

Oh, and the signs… are still everywhere… Pug global domination is coming…

The Chihuahua’s are still here

We feel it may not be safe to talk too much about our plans for global domination at this time. We have come to the conclusion that the small fat elderly chis we are currently living with may not in fact be dogs at all. Perhaps they are spies? Mama and Daddy seem to like them fine, and they keep telling us just a couple more days and they will be going to another home. These chis do not respond to repeated attempts of ours to greet them, whenever we get close to sniff their bottoms they skitter off affronted and growling. They also ignore our requests for them to vacate our bed completely. I have woofed indignantly multiple times at them curled in my sleeping areas to fall completely on deaf ears.

I would like to point out to any pug readers, a new plaque on our side bar PETAH. Any pug wishing to join the movement is welcome to copy this image and use it and or distribute it to further our cause for the well being of all pugs. So far we have our motto, but are not exactly sure how are methods are to be achieved. Advice is welcome.

Writing is difficult

Filed under: General, Comics, Photos — Iggy&Bella @ 1:28 pm

The chihuahua spies have taken to sleeping inbetween Mama and the laptop, directly inbetween. This has made communications tricky….

Please be advised potential plans for world conquest by pugs will not be thwarted, even if the chihuahuas are planning something, we do not believe them to be as well organized…

The signs are everywhere!

During these challenging times we can all use a little uplifting, so here is a comic about a pug, PUG, not chihuahua… do you know of any comics about chihuahuas… no! NO!, okay, so Ren and Stimpy not included, and just because it was actually on television doesn’t mean that chihuahua cartoon culture is more evolved, NO it does NOT.

So here’s Sheldon, (why they persist on calling it that when the pug, the real star, is named Oso)

The Chihuahua Invasion!

We’ve been invaded!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our cousins are staying with us for a few days, they are rude! and Mama has been spending entirely too much time cuddling -them-

And they are -not- even PUGS!

They are small, they growl when we come too close to them, they’ve been eating our food. They gave me fleas, and they didn’t even get in trouble for peeing on the carpet!!!! Mama says they need a little temporary fostering, and they will only be here for a few more days. DAYS, whole DAYS! not to mention nights, where they’ve taken over our favorite corner of OUR couch to sleep on, and you can’t get them to move… they GROWL. Don’t be fooled by the small size, pudginess, or age of these two, we are sure they are a deadly dynamic duo!

Serious pug pout action!

Dangerous people foods

Not all people foods are safe for dogs, many people are aware of some of the more common risks, like chocolate and avocados, but are unfamiliar with some of the others, like grapes and macadamia nuts. We decided to try to keep every pug safe and healthy and happy, to write a list of bad foods! The link is at the top of the site right next to Puggy care! So that was added to the blog today, yay! If anyone has foods to add, or comments, jump right in.

The pug revolution is well under way… you have been warned, the signs are everywhere!

And for something a little lighter… here’s Sheldon!
